講義内容
Let’s read and discuss this wonderful and very varied collection of poems – and find out why they’re displayed on the London Underground. The poems are all short, and approachable even for people who don’t usually read poetry. However, they are also well chosen, so that they appeal to readers who already have a sophisticated knowledge of poetry. These poems will inspire us to think not only about literature, but also the wider issues it links to in society, in the arts, in nature, and in our global village. The extra pleasure in this class is that participants, rather than the lecturer, can choose their favourite poems for us to focus on.

When I am travelling on the London Underground it makes my day when I can find a poem on my train, and it’s my dream to set up “Poems on Tokyo’s Chikatetsu” when I am not so busy teaching at Seijo University.
